S5 Rechargeable Loupe with 5 Lenses

I repair phone boards and for years I used a desk magnifier that had me hunched over it. With this one I sit up straight and keep both hands free, which is all I wanted. The 2.5x lens is the one I reach for, enough to see traces and small solder joints. The two LEDs help a lot when the bench is backlit. Lenses swap in a second, they just click in.

I've tinkered with watches for years and always ended up with the loupe falling out of my eye. This sits on your head and stays there. The visor flips up when I need to look across the room, nothing to take off. I only use the 3.5x for jewels and really tiny parts because you have to get quite close; the rest of the time I'm on the 2x.

Bought it for electrical jobs around the house and ended up using it for everything: bike screws, the socket strip, even reading the tiny instructions on a flat-pack. Charges by cable and one charge lasts me several sessions. Comfortable, no pressure on my forehead.

I embroider and sew, and threading a needle was becoming a real problem. With the 1.5x I can see the eye perfectly and it doesn't make me dizzy walking around with it on. Four stars because the headband loosens after a while and I have to tighten the wheel at the back. Other than that it does the job.

I paint 28 mm miniatures. I used to do the eyes half blind and hoping. Now with the 3.5x I can see the brush land where I want it. The bit I didn't expect: the light is cool white and doesn't shift the colour of the paint, which my old yellow desk lamp definitely did.

I make jewellery and set small stones. Tried all five lenses on day one and settled on the 2x for setting and the 3.5x to check the finish. It's light, which was my worry, because I spend whole afternoons at the bench.

I use it for nails and cuticle work. The lenses are decent and the light is strong, but with the 3.5x I have to get extremely close to the client's hand and my posture suffers. The 2x is fine. The battery gets me through a short day, not a full one. It works, but it's not the miracle I was hoping for if you're at it all day.

My daughter gave it to me because I could no longer read the clues in the crossword. I'm 79 and I don't get on with gadgets, but this one has a single button. I put it on, press it, and I read. I use the weakest lens, the first one. I'm back to doing my puzzles in the afternoon.

Arrived well packed with all five lenses in their case. I collect stamps and put it to work that same afternoon checking perforations and watermarks. You can tell the lenses are acrylic rather than glass, but the image is clean and undistorted in the centre, which is where you actually look.

I tie flies for fishing. The two LEDs are the strong point: they light the hook itself and my own hand doesn't cast a shadow over it, which is exactly what used to happen with my floor lamp. The module tilts down so you can aim the light where you're looking.

I keep it in the kitchen, which is where I do my crafts. I like that the visor folds up, so I go from close work to answering the kids without taking it off my head. My husband has already borrowed it twice for his own jobs.
